World Wide Conferencing NetworkWWCN is a system that provides multimedia conferencing services on a world-wide scale. It has been optimized for realtime data delivery: music, voice, video, pictures, text, software updates, and so on. To cope with today's bandwidth scarcity, it implements a reliable "multicasting" technology (one to many data communication) over standard TCP (internet) connections. |

How to tune in?WWCN is built to accomodate a huge number of users, channels, and servers. The drawback of this is that it is a bit more difficult to navigate your way around. So here are a few tips to help you 'tune into' all these great multimedia channels and information sources.Channel DirectoriesThe channels in WWCN are built just as a file system: you can have directories and subdirectories. The naming of the directories will help you guess where you can find a certain channel. The 'top' directory already gives you an idea of how the channels are organized. You can examine the top directory by typing the '/list' command. You will notice that there is a 'radio' subdirectory (the perfect place to hide a radio station), 'chat' and 'talk' directories for full-fledged chatting, and also a subdirectory 'edu' for educational channels. There's a 'tv' directory just in case there's bandwidth to burn, there's a 'sex' directory for adult activities, and even a 'warez' directory (WWCN is not in denial mode: warez do exist and will be traded). To find out what subdirectories there are inside a particular directory, say 'rec', just type: '/list rec'. You can even explore deeper, by typing '/list rec.music', for example. There are several more directories not mentioned here; just login and explore them for yourself. Fun channelsCurrently, WWCN is still a bit empty. Of course this doesn't help much when trying to find people to chat with. So you might want to check out the following channels (server wwcn.org):
