IRC: The Book of Truth
This is the Book of Truth. It contains propositions that are extremely likely to be true. It is meant to give a clear picture of the phenomenon "IRC".
The Users
  • Users sometimes hand out +o's like candy, without further purpose.
  • Users sometimes only want to harass other users.
  • Users often want to chat peacefully.
  • Users often do not know the ins and outs of IRC with respect to user modes, channel modes, scripts and bots.
  • Users sometimes know almost everything there is to know about IRC, and can use it for the good as well as for the bad.
  • The Bots
  • Bots can be usefull.
  • Bots can be destructive.
  • The Channels
Channels can be owned. #tz is owned. There are (public) channels which shouldn't be owned. Sometimes they are cuz of takeovers.
    The IRC Operators
Operators often do not care about the users or the network. Their opinion is that IRC is a privilege, not a right.
    The IRC Protocol
It is definately not the most efficient protocol. Sending a person's nick in every server message he gets doesn't make sense at all.
