Connecting a client to WWCN
First, get yourself an IRC client or a WWCN client. You can also try WWCN now using the minimal java client or the full client.
Connecting to the WWCN production net
As of August 8th, 1997 (The first day of Hip'97) the production network is in operation. All servers accept connections from any host, as long as your "reverse DNS lookup" works ok. If, for some reason, you get disconnected and you don't get "connection refused" or a similar error, then probably your reverse DNS is not functioning. Contact your service provider! You will have to make sure that you use the right port number, which is 7777 instead of 6667 (as in irc). Try one of the following servers: wwcn.student.utwente.nl port 7777 whitehouse.student.utwente.nl port 7777 irc.nl.net port 7777 If you are going to connect to WWCN make sure you have read the Acceptable use policy (AUP)
