Kernel Status
Some kernels are known to work and compile for the Javastation (or SPARC), and some are known not to work (or compile). Here is a list with working and non-working kernels.
2.4
2.4.22 + gcc 2.95(native and cross)
Compiles, boots, even with VGA text console, sound and flash.
Patches used:
BasVanSisseren his 2.6
patchset.
2.4.24 + gcc 2.95(native and cross)
Has troubles with linking during the last link phase. Some symbols are unresolved due to over-optimizing.
BasVanSisseren has created a
quickfix, but there are many reports of crashes during boot:
fixup f adress refers to weird instructions at adress
This could be a problem of using
make -jn, but in single-job (without
-j) it has the same problems. Looks like gcc 2.95 breaks javastation kernels after 2.4.22 (or 2.4.23).
There is no report of a working >=2.4.24 kernel built with gcc 2.95 yet.
